Graduate School Admission Criteria (Bullet Point Summary of Admission Criteria):

  • Candidates must have graduated from a CAATE accredited program or are currently BOC certified or eligible for certification.
  • Candidates must also have an undergraduate GPA of 3.0.

Graduate School Application Procedures (Bullet Point Summary of Graduate School Application Process):
  1. Complete and return the Graduate Athletic Training Education application; attach one official college transcript, one copy of your GRE scores (if applicable) and your resume and return it to the graduate athletic training program director. Please submit all materials prior to January 17, 2011 or until all positions are filled.
  2. Have three letters of recommendation (forms are also provided in application packet); one letter from a supervising athletic trainer/program director, one letter from an individual who can substantiate your academic potential and one letter from an individual of your choice. You may choose to have all letters included with the application but they must have the signature of the evaluator across the seal. Letters of recommendation may also be mailed separately or faxed to (269)-387-2704.
  3. You must be officially accepted to The GRADUATE COLLEGE before being considered for admission into the graduate athletic training program. You may also apply
    on-line to the
    Graduate College.
  4. Campus interviews are highly recommended. You will be contacted to arrange an interview after we have received your completed application (interviews may occur prior to the application deadline) or we will conduct a phone interview. You will be able to stay with a current student if you come to campus, but you must supply your own transportation to WMU.
  5. Be sure to follow all instructions on the application forms, including the application for financial assistance (if necessary) found in the application instructions of the graduate self-managed application.
  6. Final decisions of acceptance into the Graduate Athletic Training Program will be made prior to March 1 or until all positions are filled
